A huge wave in technology recently has been in the form of tablet computers and ebook readers. Many times, these are used as almost interchangeable phrases. Many of the ebook readers that are popular can be rooted, therefore giving them the properties of a tablet PC. Rooting a device means what it sounds like – taking that device back to it’s root. This gets rid of the proprietary software and blocks on the software, so that it can be used in different ways.

Today, many of the ebook readers that are popular, for example the Barnes and Noble NookColor, can be rooted fairly easily. They are the same size as many other tablet PCs, so they serve very similar purposes. In fact, you can find ebooks through Barnes and Noble that go over step by step how to root your Nook. You must always keep in mind that if you root a device, it will automatically void any warranties that the device may have. Therefore, it is highly suggested that if you go about this process, you do it carefully.

Many people find tablet PCs to be the perfect bridge. They are smaller than a laptop, and even easier to carry around. On the other hand, they are larger than the smart phones that have also become extremely popular. Tablet PCs have become popular for entertainment, browsing the web, and even business purposes. More and more companies are coming out with tablet options, so no matter what company you prefer to get your electronics from, you may be able to find a tablet from them now, or in the near future.
